May River Trip

8am on Sunday morning- 6 Tideway sailors in both Hawks emerged from the South Dock marina lock for a great sail down river. First sight was HMS Ocean moored by Greenwich towering over us. Feeling well protected we sailed on down through the Thames Barrier all the way to the Dartford Bridge with the tide ebbing. We turned round for a slower sail back to Erith Yacht Club for lunch (helped by EYC members giving us a lift in to their smart clubhouse). Winds were a bit stronger in the afternoon so there was less chat and more concentration but we were back in the lock by 4pm feeling like we had had a proper day’s sailing.
